Any piece in the system is represented as a set of contours, and contours consist of sections. A section is a part of a contour between two end points. The contour has a fracture in these points, and its smoothness is broken. A section is a straight or curved line with at least two points (beginning and end ones), but it can also contain intermediate points. For example, an armhole section in the figure below has end points (1 and 2), and an intermediate check point.

The beginning and the end of the section is determined in clockwise direction. If an imaginary clock dial is placed inside the piece, the bypass (outline) of the contour in a clockwise direction is accepted as a positive order of contour outline. You can define the beginning and the end for each section. In a locked contour (for example, a cut), the end of one section matches the beginning of another section, the end of the second section matches the beginning of the third section, the end of the last section matches the beginning of the first section.

Since a section is only a part of the contour, it cannot be set by any parameters, or created separately. The section has one purpose: to divide a contour into parts. You can work with a section the same way as with a part of one of the piece contours: move, delete, rotate, or deform.

The operations with sections are performed with the help of the commands in the SECTION tab, or from the text menu.
